This is an original 40x30x1.5 oil painting on cradled panel by Whitney Heavey. The painting wraps around the edges and it is wired and ready to hang unframed or can easily be framed.
I was excited to achieve a shimmer with the surface of this painting as the light on and in the water is constantly attracting me. I used a combination of application methods including, brush, palette knife, brayer, squeegee as well as oil pigment sticks to achieve the active surface. Sailboats represent more than a transportation method on the water. They really can represent so much, from important people in your life, to aspirations, to emotions you are feeling.
